Anchor bidding for Jio Platforms' initial public offering began on 19 October 2026, according to a NewsBytes report of 16 October, and the public issue runs from 21 to 23 October. The report puts the issue at about ₹30,188 crore, which it calls India's largest IPO ever. Business Today, on 14 October, gave ₹28,755 crore at the lower end of the price band and ₹30,213 crore at the upper end, so the two reports differ slightly.

Structure and price

The issue is 27 crore new shares, with no shares sold by existing owners, at a price band of ₹1,065 to ₹1,119. Up to ₹2,500 crore is reserved for eligible Reliance Industries shareholders and up to ₹500 crore for eligible Jio Platforms employees. Business Today adds that the minimum bid is 12 shares, which costs ₹12,780 at the lower end and ₹13,428 at the upper end, and that employees get a ₹54-a-share discount.

Use of money

Most of the proceeds will repay ₹27,500 crore of debt owed by Reliance Jio Infocomm, a Jio Platforms subsidiary.

Investors

The report names Allianz and BlackRock as interested international investors and SBI Mutual Fund as a domestic one. It mentions sovereign wealth funds and leading asset managers without naming them. It gives no anchor book size or allocation. A Kotak Neo report of 6 October says a listing on 28 October is targeted but not formally announced.

Key numbers

  • Issue size: About ₹30,188 cr (₹30,213 cr at upper band, per BT)
  • Price band: ₹1,065–1,119 (Per share)
  • Reliance shareholders: ₹2,500 cr (Reserved, up to)
  • Employees: ₹500 cr (Reserved, up to)

What boards and CFOs should note

Three points stand out. First, the issue is entirely new shares and mainly clears debt, so existing owners are not selling. Second, ₹3,000 crore is set aside for Reliance shareholders and staff, so the public portion is smaller than the headline. Third, anchor size is not yet reported, so demand cannot be judged from the sources seen.
