NLC India Renewables Limited has received a letter of intent from Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited to develop 300 MW of grid-connected wind power projects. The wholly owned subsidiary of NLC India secured capacity through a competitive tender that included a greenshoe option, according to an exchange disclosure dated 28 October 2026.
The allocation consists of 100 MW won in the main bidding process, plus two additional 100 MW capacities accepted under greenshoe arrangements. The disclosure confirms the letter of intent but does not provide the tariff, project locations, commissioning deadline or estimated capital cost.
The tender started with 250 MW
GUVNL invited bids to procure power from 250 MW of grid-connected wind projects under Phase XI. The tender also included a greenshoe option for up to another 250 MW, allowing additional capacity to be allocated on the auction's terms.
NLC India Renewables was declared successful for 100 MW and subsequently accepted 100 MW under the greenshoe and a further 100 MW under an additional greenshoe allocation. Together, those components take its total award to 300 MW.
A letter of intent precedes project delivery
The letter of intent records the allocation but is not the same as commercial operation. The next stages normally include final documentation, land and connectivity arrangements, equipment procurement, financing, construction and commissioning under tender conditions.
Because the disclosure does not state the awarded tariff or completion schedule, project economics and near-term revenue timing cannot be calculated from the announcement alone. Those details will matter when the company moves from award to execution. Wind projects also require a clear route to grid connection and suitable sites with bankable resource data. Procurement timing is relevant because turbine availability, foreign-exchange exposure in components and evacuation readiness can affect both cost and the scheduled commercial-operation date.
The project expands NLC's renewable pipeline
NLC India Renewables is NLC India's dedicated renewable-energy subsidiary. The wind award adds to the group's transition beyond its conventional mining and power-generation base and gives it a larger presence in Gujarat's renewable procurement programme.
The 300 MW figure describes contracted project capacity, not current generation. Actual electricity supplied will depend on commissioning, wind resource, grid availability and operating performance after the projects become operational.
Key numbers
- Total allocation: 300 MW
- Main bid capacity won: 100 MW
- First greenshoe capacity accepted: 100 MW
- Additional greenshoe capacity accepted: 100 MW

What boards and CFOs should note
- What tariff, commissioning deadline and performance obligations apply to each 100 MW component?
- How much equity and debt will be required once land, turbines, evacuation and development costs are finalised?
- Which execution risks could delay revenue recognition, including connectivity, equipment supply and site readiness?
