The National Company Law Tribunal approved 107 resolution plans in the July–September 2026 quarter, with a combined value of about ₹11,071.14 crore, according to a LawChakra report of 8 October 2026. In the same quarter of the previous year it approved 60. That is an increase of about 78%, and an average of roughly ₹103 crore per plan on the report's totals. The report does not give a value for the earlier quarter.

First half and benches

The 107 plans follow 78 in April–June, making 185 for the first half of FY27.

Mumbai approved 35 plans worth ₹4,199.47 crore. Ahmedabad approved 8 worth ₹2,382.04 crore, New Delhi (the Principal and New Delhi benches together) 29 worth ₹1,648.34 crore, Indore 6 worth ₹1,106.66 crore, and Chandigarh 9 worth ₹1,079.07 crore. Jaipur approved one plan worth ₹288.37 crore and Kolkata five worth ₹27.28 crore. The five largest benches account for more than 94% of the value, and Mumbai alone for about 38%.

Capacity

The Tribunal has 48 members against a sanctioned strength of 62, excluding the President, so 14 posts are vacant. Four members are due to leave by the end of the calendar year. On 30 September, 294 resolution plans were pending and orders had been reserved in 41 matters.

Key numbers

  • Plans approved, Jul–Sep: 107 (vs 60 a year earlier)
  • Total value: ₹11,071 cr (About ₹103 cr per plan)
  • Plans pending: 294 (At 30 September)
  • Member posts vacant: 14 (48 of 62 in place)

What boards and CFOs should note

Three points stand out. First, approvals rose sharply, which suggests the backlog is moving even with a fifth of member posts empty. Second, value is concentrated: a handful of benches decide most of the recovery, so a company's timeline depends heavily on where its case is listed. Third, the pending count of 294 and four expected departures mean capacity, not demand, is the constraint to watch.
