Anchors were allotted 7.24 crore shares at the upper end of the price band, ₹1,119. The report cites aggregate institutional demand for the anchor book of nearly ₹2.5 lakh crore, which is about 31 times the amount allotted on the reported figures.

Who took part

Domestic investors included 25 mutual funds, which took 2.48 crore shares worth ₹2,784.96 crore through 95 schemes, and all of the top 10 fund houses. Insurers and pension funds, including LIC, HDFC Life, SBI Life and the NPS Trust, took 97.4 lakh shares worth ₹1,089.95 crore. Together these two groups account for about 48% of the anchor money on the reported figures. The report also names global managers such as BlackRock, Capital Group, Fidelity, T. Rowe Price and JPMorgan Asset Management, and sovereign funds and pensions including GIC, Norges Bank Investment Management, the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority and the Qatar Investment Authority.

The issue

The public issue opens on 21 October and closes on 23 October at ₹1,065 to ₹1,119 a share. It is a fresh issue of 27 crore shares, 2.9% of post-issue equity. ₹500 crore is reserved for employees, who get a ₹54-a-share discount, and ₹2,500 crore for eligible Reliance Industries shareholders. ₹27,500 crore of the proceeds will repay part of the debt of Reliance Jio Infocomm.

Recent results

For April–June 2026, Jio Platforms reported profit of ₹7,765 crore, up 9.1%, on revenue of ₹39,172.9 crore, up 11.8%.

Key numbers

  • Anchor demand: Nearly ₹2.5 lakh cr (About 31 times the allotment)
  • Domestic mutual funds: ₹2,785 cr (25 funds, 95 schemes)
  • Insurers and pensions: ₹1,090 cr (97.4 lakh shares)

What boards and CFOs should note

Three points stand out. First, anchor demand shows institutional appetite but is not the same as retail or public demand, which is still to come. Second, about half the anchor money came from domestic mutual funds, insurers and pension funds. Third, most proceeds repay subsidiary debt.
