Hikal's active pharmaceutical ingredient facility in Bengaluru has received a Certificate of GMP Compliance of a Manufacturer from Swissmedic, Switzerland's therapeutic-products regulator. The company announced the certification in an exchange filing dated 30 October 2026.

The certificate confirms that the facility meets Good Manufacturing Practice requirements under the Mutual Recognition Agreement between the European Union and Switzerland. Hikal said the approval strengthens the site's regulatory position and expands its ability to serve customers in Europe and other regulated markets.

Certification follows other regulator inspections

The Bengaluru facility has also completed inspections by Brazil's health regulator ANVISA and Japan's Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency. Hikal said the three recognitions support its plan to diversify the geographic reach of its pharmaceutical business.

Regulatory certification is a condition for serving many pharmaceutical customers, but it is not the same as a customer order or a revenue commitment. Commercial conversion will depend on product registrations, customer qualification, contracts, production scheduling and continuing compliance with the applicable standards.

The site manufactures active ingredients

Hikal supplies active ingredients, intermediates and biocides to pharmaceutical, animal-health, biotechnology, personal-care and specialty-chemical customers. Its Bengaluru site forms part of a five-facility Indian manufacturing network that also includes Taloja and Mahad in Maharashtra and Panoli in Gujarat.

The company also operates a research and technology centre in Pune. The filing does not state which products will be supplied under the new certification, the capacity available at the Bengaluru plant or the expected revenue contribution from customers in newly accessible markets.

Continued compliance remains central

GMP certification reflects the facility and systems reviewed by the regulator. Maintaining the commercial benefit requires ongoing adherence to quality, documentation, validation and change-control requirements. Customers may also conduct their own audits before approving a site for a product.

The disclosure does not provide the certificate's validity period, any product-specific limitations or planned capital expenditure following the approval. Those details are relevant to assessing how quickly the certification can translate into additional manufacturing volumes.
