Bajaj Finance reported a 29% rise in second-quarter profit, according to a Business Standard report on 21 October 2026. Consolidated net profit was ₹6,367 crore for July to September 2026, announced on Monday, 19 October.
The numbers
Net interest income rose 24% to ₹13,335 crore from ₹10,785 crore, and net total income rose 23% to ₹15,974 crore. Assets under management were ₹5.85 trillion on 30 September, up 26% in a year, and grew by ₹37,680 crore in the quarter. New loans were 13.45 million, up 11%. The company said the yearly comparison is distorted because the festive season started earlier last year.
Asset quality
The report gives no figures for gross or net non-performing assets or credit costs. It says stressed loans rose slightly, driven by gold loans, and that management expects a negligible effect on profit and loss. A brokerage quoted in the report said that, excluding gold loans, asset quality improved from the previous quarter.
Outlook
The brokerage notes in the report say loan growth guidance has moved up to 26–27% and that SME finance is expected to grow in double digits. They also say margin moderation could be slightly worse than earlier expected, offset by better operating costs. One brokerage trimmed its FY28 and FY29 earnings estimates by 1–2%, citing higher interest rates, lower bancassurance fees and the flexi-loan impact.
Market reaction
The shares fell by as much as 3% on 21 October. At 9:17 am they traded 2.4% lower at ₹935 on the NSE, with a low of ₹930, while the Nifty 50 was up 0.71% at 23,051.10.
Key numbers
- Consolidated net profit: ₹6,367 crore (Up 29% year on year)
- Net interest income: ₹13,335 crore (Up 24%)
- Assets under management: ₹5.85 trillion (Up 26%)

What boards and CFOs should note
Three points stand out. First, assets under management grew 26%, slightly ahead of the 24% rise in net interest income. Second, gold loan stress is small now but is the segment to watch. Third, higher interest rates are feeding into estimates, as the RBI raised the repo rate on 7 October.
