Razorpay has received a final Payment Service Provider licence from the International Financial Services Centres Authority to operate from GIFT City, the payments company said on 3 November. The licence allows the platform to support money movement into and out of India under the international financial centre's regulatory framework.
The company said the infrastructure will cover global investing, international collections, settlements and multi-currency capabilities. The final licence follows an in-principle approval received in April 2026.
One integration is intended to replace multiple links
Razorpay said investment platforms currently have to connect multiple banks, compliance systems and remittance providers when offering access to global equities. Its GIFT City infrastructure is designed to consolidate those functions into one integration.
The company said an integration that typically takes months can be completed in two to three weeks. Banking integrations are already live with RBL Bank and ICICI Bank, while unnamed investment platforms are expected to go live later.
Overseas investment provides the market context
Indian residents invested $2.65 billion in overseas stocks and debt during FY26, according to the company's release. That amount represented a 56% increase from the previous year.
Razorpay linked the licence to regulators' efforts to route more cross-border investment flows through GIFT City. The licence expands its regulated infrastructure beyond domestic online and offline payments into foreign-currency movement and multi-currency accounts.
Scope extends beyond global investing
The company said the platform can serve Indian investment providers, businesses collecting from overseas customers and other cross-border use cases. It can move foreign currency, maintain multi-currency accounts and support settlement flows that do not sit within the domestic payments framework.
The release did not state pricing, transaction limits, expected volumes or a launch date for the first participating investment platform. Those operational details will determine adoption and commercial impact.
