Thomas Cook (India) Limited has opened its first outlet in Gorakhpur, expanding the travel-services company’s consumer access to 12 locations across Uttar Pradesh. The new branch is in Taramandal, a commercial and residential area in south-east Gorakhpur, the company said on 4 November.
The outlet will sell domestic and international holidays, group tours, personalised itineraries, cruises and travel insurance. Customers will also be able to use Thomas Cook India’s AI-powered booking platform, which checks availability and supports real-time reservations.
Expansion targets an emerging source market
Thomas Cook described Uttar Pradesh as an important source market and said the Gorakhpur opening is intended to deepen its regional reach. The company expects the catchment to include families, corporate professionals, couples, younger travellers and senior citizens.
The branch sits near Ramgarh Lake and other commercial and lifestyle landmarks. Its location gives the company access to customers in the city as well as surrounding areas, where organised travel retail remains less dense than in India’s largest metros.
Demand is spreading across formats and seasons
The company said travellers from Gorakhpur are increasingly using public holidays and weekends for short breaks rather than concentrating trips in traditional peak seasons. It also pointed to growing demand for personalised experiences, cruises, charter-led journeys and spiritual tourism.
International destinations highlighted in the release range from Europe and Scandinavia to Australia, Japan and Southeast Asia. Domestic demand includes Rajasthan, Kerala, the Andamans, Lakshadweep and the Northeast, alongside pilgrimage circuits such as Char Dham, Kashi and Ayodhya.
What the opening changes
The expansion gives Thomas Cook India a physical sales and service point in a city that also connects eastern Uttar Pradesh with neighbouring districts. The outlet combines in-person advice with the company’s digital booking tools, an omnichannel model aimed at customers who want both assisted planning and real-time availability.
The company did not disclose the branch’s investment, staffing, revenue target or break-even timetable. Those details will determine the financial contribution of the expansion beyond the wider network footprint.
