Infosys has inaugurated a new 1.1 million sq ft software-development block at its Pocharam Development Center in Hyderabad, adding 10,000 seats to one of the technology company’s largest Indian campuses.

The 450-acre campus already had seven development blocks with about 4.58 million sq ft of built-up space. Infosys said the new facility would allow it to support an additional workforce of more than 13,000 employees under a hybrid working model.

The centre serves global clients in banking and financial services, retail, life sciences and manufacturing. The company expects the new capacity to strengthen delivery in artificial intelligence, cloud, cybersecurity, engineering and other next-generation digital services.

Capacity, talent and delivery

The expansion is more than a real-estate addition. A 10,000-seat block gives Infosys room to build specialised teams and take on large transformation programmes from Hyderabad, while the hybrid-work design lets the workforce supported by the facility exceed its physical seat count.

CFO Jayesh Sanghrajka said the campus would bring together talent, infrastructure and advanced capabilities as clients increase their use of AI. For Telangana, the project adds to Hyderabad’s established role as a delivery base for global technology and business-services companies.

Sustainability features

Infosys said the block incorporates radiant cooling, smart lighting, rainwater harvesting, wastewater reuse and extensive natural daylight. It also includes flexible workspaces, collaboration areas and employee-wellness facilities.

Those features matter at campus scale because power, water and employee utilisation can materially affect the operating cost and environmental footprint of a large delivery centre.

Boardroom read

The immediate signal is capacity: Infosys is putting more delivery infrastructure behind AI, cloud and cybersecurity demand even as the wider IT-services market remains selective. The longer-term test will be utilisation—how quickly the 10,000 seats translate into staffed programmes, billable work and durable client growth.
